3. Downsize Your Possessions

If you know there are items in your current home that have outlived their usefulness, moving is a good time to downsize and get rid of those unnecessary items. Go through each closet or storage area and sort what you need and what you can do without. Once you've sorted through everything, check local charities to donate your unneeded items to as this would be a tax deduction for you at the end of the year.

4. Consider How Your New Rooms Will Look as You Pack the Old

Your new home will not look exactly like your old one, which is typically the reason a person move is to experience a change. If you take pictures of the items you're taking with you, and the box they are going into, you will have a better idea of how to unpack in the new house. You will see how they worked in the old, and get an idea of how to use them in the new.

Electrical hookups are also a good thing to photo. Some of these hookups are challenging with today's technology, and a photo will help you know which plug goes into which machine and where.
